Project Overview

The Electric Lighter was developed for Clas Ohlson. The project was taken from initial brief through to production, and has gone on to be a successful product for the company.

 

This product is an alternative to matches, which although not often seen as are a single use item, the Electric Lighter however is a rechargeable product that doesn't use any gas to operate, instead the  solution utilises electricity and is simply recharged when the battery is drained, the lighter has a built-in Lithium Battery.

 

Close attention was paid to the user experience, to make the product intuitive yet safe. The solution uses a safety switch on the base, which allowed for cleaning and safe storage, and then a press and a slide button on the main body to ignite the product, that can be operated with one hand, making for a safe yet intuitive user experience.

Furthermore the product has a timeless Industrial Design, this is intended to allow the product to blend into many homes and last for many years without becoming dated.
