Elvin Lamp
Project Overview
The Elvin Lamp was developed for Clas Ohlson. The project was taken from initial brief creation through to mass production, with consideration taken towards the products recyclability, design and transportation to minimize the products environmental without compromising the product itself.
Elvin's base is made from a powder-coated Iron and it's shade from linen, these materials were selected as they are both easy for the consumer to recycle at the end of the products life.
The product has a timeless design, allowing the product to remain relevant for many years and therefore allowing the products emissions are offset over a longer lifetime, instead of more trendy products which have a larger environmental impact as they become dated so quickly.
Consideration was also taken regarding transportation emissions, the aperture in the top of the shade, not only allows the consumer to assembly the product and change the bulb with ease, but also allows the shade to sit over the base during transportation significantly reducing the packaging volume and thus CO2 emissions.
