Packing Cubes
Project Overview
The Packing Cubes were developed from the ground up for Clas Ohlson, they replaced an existing product the company had sourced. The solution we came up with resulted in not only a smaller CO2 footprint, a more appealing design and function.
The old packing set comprised of seven units made from virgin plastic, however during our research phase we became aware that seven was an unnecessarily high number and three units is traditionally what the consumer has come to require, so the new product was launched with three items, this direction lead to reducing unnecessary consumption, as well as reducing CO2 emissions from transportation as we cut the shipped volume. We selected recycled plastic - RPET, removing virgin plastic from the product entirely.
The design was also updated to create a timeless aesthetic, with the packing volumes updated to reflect consumer requirements when travelling, based on market research and user testing.
