Solar Lamp
Project Overview
This Solar Lamp was developed for Clas Ohlson. The project was taken from initial brief creation through to mass production, with consideration towards all aspects of the products lifecycle to minimise environmental without compromising the product itself, this was done through, product/ design longevity, material selection, transportation optimisation and modularity for repairability.
This Solar Lamp body is made from powder-coated metal, this material was selected due to its quality and durability and as it can easily be recycled at the end of the products life. The solar electronics are fitted inside a separate puck module, which the consumer can replace if it was to break, further prolonging the products life.
Furthermore the bodies base fits inside the shade when packed cutting the transportation emissions and cost in half, then the design itself features a subtle hole pattern which provides great light ergonomics yet is subtle enough to appeal to most people and has a timeless design, meaning the product won't become dated quickly.

This Solar Lamp replacement has a knock-down construction for shipping, Steel body for durability and easy recyclability, and replaceable solar module for repairability, all of these factors combined make this products CO2e footprint much smaller than the product that was replaced.
